Made in USA Oxyfresh toothpastes are safe, gentle and effective

FDA warns Chinese toothpaste may be tainted with antifreeze.

In the wake of government warnings to avoid using toothpaste made in China because it may contain a poisonous chemical used in antifreeze, it’s comforting to know that Oxyfresh’s exclusive and proprietary dental products are made in the United States.

Out of caution, the Food and Drug Administration said, people should throw away toothpaste with labeling that says it was made in China. The FDA is concerned that these products may contain diethylene glycol. It is estimated that China makes up about $3.3 million of the $2 billion U.S. toothpaste market.

Tom Lunneborg, Oxyfresh Director of Production and Distribution, said products made by Oxyfresh contain only the highest quality ingredients that have been approved by the FDA.

“Every ingredient we use is researched and tested to be not only effective, but safe for the entire family,” Lunneborg said.

In an article written by the Associated Press (AP), authorities said they were primarily concerned about Chinese toothpastes sold at bargain retail outlets. The ingredient in question, called DEG, is used as a lower-cost sweetener and thickening agent. The highest concentration for the chemical found in toothpaste so far is between 3 percent and 4 percent of the product’s overall weight.

“It does not belong in toothpaste even in small concentrations,” FDA spokeswoman Deborah M. Autor told the AP. “Our concern is potentially about all toothpaste that comes in from China.”
